Los Emmy, los premios a la excelencia a la industria televisiva han celebrado esta noche su 68ª edición otorgando como vencedora por segunda vez consecutiva en la categoría de comedia a Veep. En cuanto a drama, la clara vencedora ha sido Juego de Tronos.
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, la serie antológica de Ryan Murphy, ha sido una de las ganadores con cinco premios Emmy en la categoría de miniserie. Stearling K. Brown, Courtney B. Vance y Sarah Paulson se han hecho con el galardón a mejor actor de reparto, actor principal y actriz principal; respectivamente. La ficción también ha sido elegida mejor miniserie y se le ha otorgado el premio a mejor guion por su capítulo 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia' (1x06).
En la categoría de comedia, Julia Louis-Dreyfus se ha hecho, por octava vez, con el Emmy a mejor actriz por su trabajo en Veep. Jeffrey Tambor, por su parte, ha conseguido el segundo galardón por dar vida a Maura en Transparent. En cuanto a mejor actriz y actor de reparto, Kate McKinnon y Loui Anderson han sido los galardonados por sus respectivos trabajos en Saturday Night Live y Baskets.
Juego de Tronos, por su parte, ha conseguido sendos Emmys a mejor guion y dirección por 'The Battle of the Bastards' (6x09) en la categoría de drama. No obstante, a Kit Harington y Peter Dinklage se les ha escapado el premio a mejor actor de reparto, ya que ha caído en manos de Ben Mendelsohn por Bloodline. Lo mismo ha ocurrido con Lena Headey y Emilia Clarke, quienes no se han hecho con el Emmy a mejor actriz de reparto puesto que ha caído en manos de Maggie Smith por su trabajo en Downton Abbey.
Una de las sorpresas de la noche ha sido el premio a mejor actor de drama, galardón que ha caído en manos de Rami Malek por su interpretación de Elliot Alderson en la exitosa Mr. Robot. Tatiana Maslany, la protagonista de Orphan Black y actriz que ha interpretado a multitud de clones en la ficción de BBC America, ha conseguido el premio a mejor actriz en drama.
Por último, la británica Sherlock protagonizada por Benedict Cumberbatch y Martin Freeman ha conseguido el Emmy a mejor 'TV Movie' por su especial de Navidad La novia abominable.
